Currently, I am a full-time Geography Teacher at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. As a student at CSU Fullerton, I discovered geography as a passion and a profession. After receiving my BA & MA in Geography I went on to 10 years of private sector employment including work with economic impact reports, land use analysis, marketing (using GIS) and demographics. Since the 1990s I have enjoyed teaching in the community college system where I can share my passion for Geography and teaching.
I have served in college leadership positions and have to work with our own Board of Trustees. For nearly a decade I have been on the District policy committee where we work within the intricacies of Ed Code in California (I will admit it, I enjoy reading Ed Code).
Past-President & President Elect Academic Senate, Saddleback College
Recipient of Outstanding Educator Award, California Geographical Society
I grew up in Orange County and am myself a product of public schools. My wife and I have a daughter in elementary school and I have enjoyed my time spent with her when possible in her classrooms.
As a geographer, I love seeing the world and bring back my experiences to the classroom. My daughter travels with me and she too has been able to tell tales of seeing Lions on the Serengeti, castles in Scotland, volcanoes in Central America and farms in Norway to name a few.
